Summary:

This beautiful play tells the story of nine orphaned children on a real-life “orphan train” that left New York City on May 28, 1914. The train travels to Midwestern towns in search of homes for the children.  We meet Mary, Evie, spunky Pegeen, Annie and Little Lucy. Frankie (disguised as Frank), Raymond, Lucky and Danny the song and dance boy. There are also wonderful men and women hoping for children, and others who just need someone to work on the farm.

The lonesome whistle wails and the train chugs between encounters of hope, wistfulness, rejection and acceptance. There’s laughter, too! A charming, heart-warming play.
